This special microlot comes from 34 women farmers in the hills surrounding Sovu Washing Station, part of the Abizerwa Women’s Group within the Maraba Cooperative in Rwanda’s Southern Province. The group’s name, “Abizerwa” meaning “trusted people” in Kinyarwanda, reflects their strong sense of community and support.
We are very proud to be involved in the @supporting_strongwomen project. Last year with part of the proceeds of the sales of our Rwandan lots we were able to contribute to the construction of the Musasa Model Early Childhood Development Centre. A nursery that helps care for 52 kids in this region while their mums are able to go to work on the surrounding farms and earn a living for their families, all free of charge.
