Coffee has been a part of Mexico’s agriculture since the 18th century, and always inextricably entangled with land politics. A boom in production through the 20th century although short lived offered encouraging signs for a country often held back by a
struggling economy. By the 1980’s Mexico’s debt crisis forced the closure of many support programs for this industry and its only of recent that we are seeing higher quality coffee in production.
